Open your eyes and the whole world is full of God

Jakob Boehme

Jakob Boehme (1575–1624), the German mystic and shoemaker of Görlitz, unveiled a visionary theology rooted in direct experience of the Divine. His writings, like Aurora and The Way to Christ, explore the interplay of light and darkness, freedom and necessity, revealing God as dynamic, self-revealing life. Boehme taught that creation arises from divine polarity, and that the human soul mirrors this cosmic drama, capable of turning toward eternal harmony. He influenced German Romanticism, Hegel, and mystical traditions worldwide. For Boehme, true knowledge was not scholastic but experiential: the heart’s awakening to God’s living presence through inner transformation and remembrance.

When thou art quiet and silent, then art thou as God was before nature and creature; thou hearest and seest even with that wherewith God himself saw and heard in thee.
