Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose
The true laboratory is the mind, where behind illusions we uncover the laws of truth
Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose (1858–1937) was a polymath with interests in biology, physics, botany, and science fiction. He pioneered the investigation of radio microwave optics, made significant contributions to botany, and expanded experimental science in India. His invention, the crescograph, measured plant growth. Bose founded the Bose Institute, India’s oldest interdisciplinary research center. Despite racial discrimination, he conducted scientific research at Presidency College, Calcutta. His experiments revealed apparent plant sensitivity, challenging the perception that only animals exhibit it. A crater on the Moon bears his name. His legacy extends beyond science to inspiring generations. 🌱🔬📡
