Six Obstacles to Spiritual growth

In Hindu philosophy, the six vices, often referred to as the “Shadripu,” are considered the primary obstacles to spiritual growth and self-realization. These vices are:

  1. Kama (Lust): Excessive desire for sensual pleasures.
  2. Krodha (Anger): Uncontrolled rage and frustration.
  3. Lobha (Greed): Insatiable desire for material wealth.
  4. Moha (Delusion): Attachment to the illusory aspects of life.
  5. Mada (Pride): Ego and arrogance.
  6. Matsarya (Jealousy): Envy towards others’ success or possessions.

Overcoming these vices is essential for attaining spiritual purity and progressing on the path to enlightenment.
