Helen Keller

Helen Keller, born in 1880 in Alabama, became deaf and blind at 19 months due to illness. Despite these challenges, she learned to communicate with the help of her teacher, Anne Sullivan. Keller graduated from Radcliffe College, becoming the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She authored several books, campaigned for disability rights, women’s suffrage, and world peace, and co-founded the ACLU. Her life’s work and advocacy transformed public perceptions about the capabilities of people with disabilities
