Subramania Bharati

Subramania Bharati, a revered Tamil poet and nationalist, was born on December 11, 1882, in Ettaiyapuram, India. His literary works, including “Songs to Krishna” and “Panchali’s Vow,” are celebrated for their patriotic fervor and profound spirituality. Bharati’s life was marked by his passionate advocacy for freedom, social reform, and women’s rights. Despite facing British censorship, he remained a prolific writer, translating Vedic texts and inspiring many with his vision of a liberated India. Tragically, he died at the age of 38 on September 12, 1921, after an incident with a temple elephant. His legacy continues to influence Tamil literature and Indian nationalism
