Swami Rama Tirtha
Swami Rama Tirtha (1873–1906) was a radiant Vedantic teacher, poet, and mystic who carried the flame of Advaita to both India and the West. Born in Punjab, he excelled in mathematics before renouncing worldly life to embrace the path of realization. His eloquent English discourses and lyrical Hindi poetry made Vedanta accessible to seekers across cultures. He emphasized fearlessness, selflessness, and the divinity inherent in all beings. Known as the “Lion of Vedanta,” he inspired countless with his vision of unity beyond sectarian boundaries. Though his earthly life was brief, his teachings continue to awaken courage, joy, and spiritual remembrance.
A pair of Tongs can catch almost everything, but how can it turn back and grasp the very fingers that hold it? A mind or intellect can in no way expected to know the Great Unknowable which is its very source.
