Sri Puttaparthi Sathya Sai Baba
Sri Puttaparthi Sathya Sai Baba, born Sathyanarayana Raju on 23 November 1926 in Puttaparthi, was an Indian spiritual leader revered worldwide for teachings of love, service, and unity of religions. Claiming to be an avatar, he attracted millions with humanitarian projects: free hospitals, schools, and drinking-water schemes run by his trust. Known for charismatic discourses, devotional singing, and reported miracles, he emphasized Sathya (truth), Dharma (righteousness), Shanti (peace), Prema (love), and Ahimsa (nonviolence). His ashram at Puttaparthi became a global pilgrimage centre. Critics questioned some miracles and financial transparency, yet his followers continue philanthropic work inspired by his message. Their institutions provide education, healthcare, and community development globally.
