Exploring the Enchanting Meghalaya: An 8-Night, 9-Day Adventure

Day 1: Lake Day: Arrival in Guwahati and Transfer to Shillong (24th Dec)

Your journey begins as you arrive at Guwahati Airport, where our tour representative will greet you and transfer you to Shillong. En route, you’ll visit the serene Umiam Lake, a perfect spot for a picturesque break. Once you check into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to relax and unwind. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 2: Canyon Day: Laitlum Grand Canyon & Mawphlang Sacred Grove (25th Dec)

After a hearty breakfast, head towards the breathtaking Laitlum Grand Canyon. The panoramic views here are simply mesmerizing. Next, drive to Mawphlang to explore the Sacred Forest, also known as Mawphlang Sacred Grove. This ancient forest is steeped in local folklore and natural beauty. On your way back to Shillong, visit the stunning Elephant Falls. Note that a guide is mandatory to enter Mawphlang Forest, and they are available at the entrance. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 3: Cave Day: Discovering Cherrapunjee (26th Dec)

Post breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Cherrapunjee. Your first stop is the Mawkdok Valley viewpoint, where you can opt for an exhilarating zip-lining experience. Continue to Wei Sawdong Falls, Dainthlen Falls, Arwah Cave, Mawsmai Cave, and Eco Park. Each site offers unique natural wonders and adventures. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

Day 4: Bridge day: Trek to Double Decker Living Root Bridge (27th Dec)

Prepare for an adventurous day as you drive to Tyrna after breakfast. From here, you’ll start your trek to the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge, accompanied by our guide. This challenging trek involves navigating 3500 steps one way, but the sight of these natural marvels is worth every effort. If you’re up for more, continue trekking to Rainbow Falls. Return to Tyrna and transfer back to your hotel in Cherrapunjee. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

Day 5: Village day: Cherrapunjee to Mawlynnong (28th Dec)

After breakfast, check out and visit a few more sites in Cherrapunjee, including Thangkarang Park, Khoh Ranhah, and the Garden of Caves. Then, proceed to Mawlynnong, renowned as the cleanest village in India. Explore a Living Root Bridge, stroll around the village, and marvel at the Balancing Rock. Overnight stay in Mawlynnong.

Day 6: Dawki day: Shnongpdeng & Dawki (29th Dec)

Start your day with a visit to Shnongpdeng, where you can indulge in various water sports like kayaking, zip-lining, snorkeling, cliff jumping, and boating at your own cost. Later, visit the Tamabil Bangladesh Border and enjoy a serene boat ride on the Dawki Umngot River before sunset. Return to Mawlynnong for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Monolith day: Jaintia Hills & Shillong (30th Dec)

After breakfast, head towards Jaintia Hills to visit the stunning Krangsuri Falls and Phe Phe Falls, which requires a hike to reach. If time permits, explore the Nartiang Monoliths. Later, transfer back to Shillong and check into your hotel. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 8: Don Bosco day: Exploring Shillong (31st Dec)

Spend the day exploring Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. Visit the Don Bosco Museum, Ward’s Lake, Lady Hyderi Park, Golf Link, and Cathedral Church. In the evening, enjoy shopping at Police Bazar and savor some local or Chinese cuisine. If there’s a New Year’s Eve event, you can attend it for an additional cost. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 9: Departure (1st Jan)

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Guwahati. En route, visit the Kamakhya Temple before heading to Guwahati Airport. Please ensure your return flight is booked after 3 PM if you wish to visit the temple.
