Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna

Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement. Born in 1798 in Kaginele, Karnataka, he became the chief of the army under the Kingdom of Kittur, led by Rani Chennamma. Rayanna’s guerrilla tactics against the British East India Company were notable during the 1824–1829 rebellion. Despite his capture and execution in 1831, his legacy endures. He is revered for his patriotism, bravery, and the famous proclamation of his intent to return and liberate his land from colonial rule. His life and heroism remain emblematic of the fight against oppression and for India’s sovereignty.
