Rainer Maria Rilke

Rainer Maria Rilke was an Austrian poet and novelist who lived from 1875 to 1926. He is widely recognized as a significant writer in the German language, known for his expressive and mystical poetry. Some of his best-known works include Duino Elegies, Sonnets to Orpheus, The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge, and Letters to a Young Poet. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and wrote in both German and French. He explored themes of subjective experience, disbelief, beauty, and solitude in his poems. He influenced many other writers and artists, such as W. H. Auden, Marina Tsvetaeva, and R. S. Thomas.
