Lahiri bai

Lahari Bai is a Baiga woman from Madhya Pradesh who has been preserving and reviving the millet varieties of her tribe for the past decade. She runs a seed bank and a vault from her home, where she stores 150 indigenous millet species. She also distributes seeds to farmers across 25 villages and promotes sustainable agriculture. She is known as India’s “millet ambassador” and has been recognized for her efforts at the G20 summit¹². She learned the traditional knowledge and practices of her tribe from her grandmother and is passionate about conserving the environment and culture of the Baiga people³.
