Evert Taube

Evert Taube was a renowned Swedish author, artist, composer, and singer, born on March 12, 1890, in Gothenburg, Sweden. He is celebrated as one of Sweden’s most respected musicians and the foremost troubadour of the Swedish ballad tradition in the 20th century. His work often depicted idyllic scenes from the Swedish archipelagoes and the Mediterranean, resonating with many holiday-goers. Taube also had a significant impact with his anti-fascist and anti-war poem “Målaren och Maria Pia” from the late 1930s, and composed “Änglamark,” an anthem for the environmental movement in the 70s. His legacy continues to influence Swedish music and culture.
