Ratan Tata is an Indian industrialist, philanthropist and former chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group. He led the group from 1991 to 2012 and 2016 to 2017, and transformed it into a global business with acquisitions of companies like Tetley Tea, Jaguar Land Rover, and Corus Steel. He is also one of the world’s largest philanthropists, having donated billions of dollars to various causes. He is the son of Naval Tata, who was adopted by Ratanji Tata, the son of the group’s founder Jamsetji Tata. He graduated from Cornell University and Harvard Business School, and has received many awards and honors, including the Padma Vibhushan and the Order of Australia.
