Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc was a young peasant girl who believed that God had chosen her to lead France to victory against England in the Hundred Years’ War. She convinced the crown prince Charles of Valois to let her lead a French army to the besieged city of Orléans, where they achieved a stunning victory. She then saw Charles crowned as King Charles VII of France. However, she was later captured by the English and their allies, and burned at the stake as a heretic. She became a national heroine of France and a saint of the Catholic Church
