Many friendships begin naturally.
School.
College.
Work.
Shared interests.
Shared experiences.
Yet not all friendships remain.
Some fade with time.
Others continue despite distance, change and differing life circumstances.
What allows certain friendships to endure?
The older I become, the less I believe it is about frequency of contact.
Instead, I see qualities such as trust, acceptance, respect and genuine care.
Strong friendships create space for both connection and independence.
There is no need to constantly impress, explain or perform.
Both people are free to be themselves.
Life changes.
People change.
Circumstances change.
Yet some relationships continue because the foundation beneath them remains strong.
Perhaps lasting friendships are not built on convenience.
Perhaps they are built on appreciation, trust and shared humanity.
