My Vision For Parenting

The longer I reflect on parenting, the simpler my vision becomes.

I do not dream of raising successful children.

I dream of raising whole human beings.

People who are capable of thinking for themselves.

People who can care for themselves and others.

People who remain curious about life.

People who know how to learn.

People who can adapt, grow and contribute.

People who can experience joy, meaning and connection.

Academic achievement has value.

Professional success has value.

Yet these things feel incomplete without emotional health, inner stability and a sense of purpose.

If my children become independent, kind, thoughtful and resilient adults, I would consider that parenting success.

Not because they fulfilled my expectations.

But because they discovered their own path with confidence and integrity.

The goal is not to prepare children for our world.

The goal may be to prepare them to navigate a world that neither they nor we can fully predict.
