Gratitude Across Generations

As children, it is often difficult to see the full extent of what parents provide.

We notice rules before sacrifices.

Expectations before effort.

Limitations before intentions.

Time changes this perspective.

Experiences create context.

Responsibilities create understanding.

The older I become, the more I appreciate the countless invisible contributions that support a family.

The choices made quietly.

The worries carried privately.

The responsibilities accepted willingly.

Gratitude is not about declaring our parents perfect.

It is about recognising what was given.

Even when relationships are imperfect, there are often gifts worth acknowledging.

Perhaps gratitude begins when we learn to see more than we once could.
