Tukaram Mundhe
Tukaram Mundhe, born in drought-hit Beed, grew up helping his family farm and sell vegetables. Educated in a Zilla Parishad school, he later earned a master’s in Political Science from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. Clearing UPSC in 2004 with AIR 20, he joined the IAS in 2005. Known as “IAS Singham,” Mundhe has served as collector, commissioner, and now Maharashtra FDA chief. His career, marked by 25 transfers, reflects his uncompromising honesty and tough administrative style. Leading crackdowns on food safety, he has raided thousands of establishments, suspended licenses, and challenged powerful interests, embodying fearless governance and public trust.
