You Cannot Attract What You Are Unwilling to Become

A Reflection on Desire, Alignment, and Grace

Many people speak about attraction as though desire alone is enough.

Want something deeply enough, visualise it often enough, repeat the right affirmations, and somehow the universe will rearrange itself in your favour.

My experience has been different.

Desire by itself changes very little.

What transforms life is not desiring a future. It is becoming the desire in the present.

A seed does not become a tree because it dreams of becoming one.

It becomes a tree because everything required for its growth is happening now. The soil, the water, the sunlight, the invisible intelligence of life—all are present.

In the same way, our deepest aspirations are not waiting somewhere in the future. They ask something of us today.

They ask us to become them.

The Gap Between Wanting and Being

Many of us can think a desire.

Few of us can embody it.

We say we want courage, yet our bodies remain contracted in fear.

We say we want abundance, yet our nervous systems remain organised around scarcity.

We say we want love, yet we continue to protect ourselves from vulnerability.

Thoughts alone are not transformation.

The body must agree.

The emotions must agree.

The actions must agree.

There must be coherence between what we think, what we feel, how we act, and how we show up in the world.

Without this coherence, desire remains an idea.

With coherence, desire becomes a living reality long before it manifests externally.

Vibrating the Desire

When I say “become the desire”, I do not mean pretending.

I do not mean forcing positivity or repeating affirmations until we convince ourselves of something.

I mean allowing the entire system—mind, body, emotions, and actions—to resonate with what we seek.

If courage is the desire, let courage enter the way you speak.

Let it enter your posture.

Let it enter your decisions.

Let it enter the conversations you have been avoiding.

When the desire enters the nervous system, life begins to organise itself differently.

You no longer chase the future.

You start living from it.

The Field Responds

Something interesting happens when this alignment deepens.

The world around us begins to change.

Not because reality is magically obeying our wishes.

But because we are no longer participating in the patterns that created our previous experience.

Certain relationships may fall away.

Certain environments may no longer feel aligned.

Old identities may lose their grip.

What once felt natural may suddenly feel foreign.

At times this can be uncomfortable.

Yet it is often a sign that we are no longer vibrating from the same centre.

Sometimes people drift away.

Sometimes they grow with us.

Sometimes our own transformation becomes an invitation for theirs.

This is where personal growth and inclusion meet.

The deeper we embody a possibility, the more permission we give others to explore it for themselves.

Beyond Opposites

Most human experience is organised around opposites.

Success and failure.

Good and bad.

Light and dark.

Gain and loss.

We spend enormous amounts of energy moving toward one side and away from the other.

Yet there is another possibility.

A place where awareness is no longer imprisoned by these opposites.

Where courage is not the absence of fear.

Where compassion is not dependent on agreement.

Where peace is not dependent on circumstances.

This is not indifference.

It is transcendence.

A widening of perspective that allows us to hold life’s contradictions without becoming trapped by them.

From that space, action becomes clearer.

And fear loses much of its authority.

Grace Cannot Be Manufactured

Perhaps the most important thing I have learned is this:

None of this is entirely our doing.

Effort matters.

Practice matters.

Discipline matters.

Yet there is also grace.

The opportunity to walk this path is itself a gift.

When I reflect on my own journey—through yoga, scripture, travel, coaching, work, art, relationships, family, service, and self-inquiry—I cannot honestly claim ownership of it.

Too many doors opened at the right time.

Too many teachers appeared when needed.

Too many insights arrived unannounced.

The path feels less like an achievement and more like a blessing.

A grace that continues unfolding.

The Responsibility of Awareness

Grace, however, brings responsibility.

The more clearly we see, the more consciously we must live.

Knowledge without embodiment changes little.

Insight without action becomes decoration.

If we truly understand something, it must transform how we show up in the world.

How we speak.

How we work.

How we love.

How we serve.

How we respond when life becomes difficult.

The invitation is not merely to know the truth.

It is to become it.

A Final Reflection

The future is not something I am waiting for anymore.

It is something I practise now.

Every desire asks a simple question:

“Can you become what you seek before it arrives?”

Because what we consistently think, feel, embody, and act upon does not merely shape our future.

It shapes who we are becoming in this moment.

And perhaps that is the deeper mystery.

The desire was never asking to be attracted.

It was asking to be lived.

Frankly Kranky Note

The greatest manifestations in my life did not arrive when I wanted them most. They arrived when I stopped waiting for them and started living as though they were already expressing themselves through me. Not through certainty, but through alignment. Not through force, but through grace.
