Frithjof Schuon
Frithjof Schuon (1907–1998), a German-born metaphysician and spiritual teacher, is renowned for articulating the Perennial Philosophy—the idea that all authentic religions share a transcendent unity beyond their outward forms. Deeply influenced by Sufism, Vedanta, and Native American traditions, he emphasized the primacy of the sacred, the necessity of prayer, and the contemplative life as pathways to truth. Schuon’s writings, such as The Transcendent Unity of Religions, highlight the harmony between metaphysical principles and diverse traditions. He sought to restore reverence for beauty, symbolism, and the sacred in modernity, reminding humanity that ultimate reality is One, expressed through many forms.
